There are two types of moms. Moms who Instagram, and moms who don’t. Instagram is perfect for busy moms because it’s so quick and easy to snap a pic and upload it for all to see. Don’t forget the hashtags! #momlife and #mommyproblems are two of my personal favorites. And then there’s #sotired #coffee #whereareyourshoes and of course #isdaddyhomeyet…you get the drift. There’s one thing us Instagram moms have in common, though – we all want to get that perfect shot. And when we get it, it’s probably one of these 15 things all moms love to Instagram. (All of these photos are straight from my Instagram.)
1. Our morning coffee.
Oh yes. That sweet sweet nectar of the gods. The only thing that keeps us from running out our front door and never looking back when one of the kids pours the entire box of cereal on the floor. If it weren’t for coffee, well, we’d still be asleep.
2. Or our morning green juice/smoothie.
Okay, some of us have it a little more together than others and we’ve kicked our caffeine addiction. Somehow these moms can get half their daily fruit and veggie requirements into one glass, drink it, and get their workout in before the kids are even awake. How do they do it? It remains a mystery. (Or maybe they just forgot to Instagram their coffee.)
3. Our clean house.
Look, we cleaned the house! Seriously, someone please look. We need proof of this event because when our husband gets home it’s going to look like the Tasmanian Devil payed us a visit this afternoon.
4. Our messy house.
Five minutes. We were in the bathroom for FIVE MINUTES! How does this even happen? We just want to know we’re not the only ones. #Momlife, am I right?
5. Our #OOTD photo.
Hey guess what! We got dressed today. In something besides our pajamas. We just wanted to document this momentous occasion. Look at our cute bottom half. We tried to get a full body pic but it turns out our toddler is really bad at taking pictures of things besides closeups of his face.
6. The healthy dinner we made.
It doesn’t matter that yesterday we ate cereal for dinner. Today we made a healthy meal for our family. It also doesn’t matter that half of it is probably going to end up on the floor because some of the small people in our house hate anything that’s not a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
7. The healthy lunch we packed.
We got up extra early this morning (or stayed up extra late last night) to make sure the kids had perfectly balanced lunches for school. They’re probably not going to eat any of it, even though we cut adorable flowers out of carrots.
8. Our awesome babywearing skills.
Heck yeah we just did the dishes and vacuumed the floor while our little one snoozed on our back. And yeah we got them there all by ourselves. We consider babywearing one of our super powers and we want you to know how awesome we are at it. We’ll just crop out that bald spot where the baby pulled out all the hair on the back of our head.
9. Back to school!
You know it’s the first day of school because your entire Instagram feed is filled with these pictures. Some of us are shedding a couple of tears as we watch our babies walk into their classrooms. But most of us, we are smiling and waving and trying to hide the fact that we have never been so excited to get rid of our kids for six whole hours.
10. School pick up/carpool.
Here we go again, dropping off, picking up, or chauffeuring the over-booked kids to yet another activity. We’re Instagramming up a storm because we got here 45 minutes early so we could get the best parking spot. Luckily, the toddler fell asleep so we can listen to our music instead of preschool songs.
11. Our entire pregnancy.
We have taken this same picture every week for the last 9 months. Yeah, most weeks you can’t even tell the difference. Don’t worry, we’ll post a few side-by-side pics too so you can see how much bigger we got. Yes we are still pregnant, and we’re as tired of this as you are.
12. The new baby pictures.
Right after we popped that kid out we grabbed our phone so we could show the world our new bundle of joy. But it doesn’t stop there. For the next year we will post at least five pictures of this baby a day.
13. Date night.
Somehow, we managed to get out of the house on a weeknight, without any kids, dressed as real adults. Time to celebrate, and make sure everyone knows we can still have fun once in a while.
14. Our “Mommy Juice.”
We earned this, okay?
15. The family we love so much.
As much as we gripe on Instagram about our #mommyproblems, we still love these little people. Even if one of them did spill our wine today.
Did I forget anything? What do you love to Instagram?
