Become a Part of Ghost Town at Knott’s Berry Farm This Summer!

June 22, 2017 By Angela

Disclosure: We were given free tickets to spend the day at Knott’s Berry Farm and experience Ghost Town Alive! No other compensation was received. All opinions are our own.

Recently, my whole family spent a day at Knott’s Berry Farm. I tend to not take all four kids there at the same time, because they all have very different interests, and it’s really hard to do everything that everyone wants to do all in one day. So, I’ll usually take the two older ones, or the two younger ones, and then we kind of stick to a certain part of the park that day.

But last week was different. We took all four kids, and we had the most fun at Knott’s as a family that we’ve ever had. And I’m not exaggerating.

See that? That’s three of my kids happy and interacting with a Ghost Town character. Not only that, the three of them are getting along. This is unheard of.

Ghost Town Alive! is an interactive experience where Knott’s Berry Farm guests play an first-hand role in a story that unfolds around them in Ghost Town. Not only do you have an opportunity to take part in the story, but you have influence on how the story takes shape!

The story takes place a year after the notorious Mayfield Gang escaped the custody of Sheriff Wheeler. Word around town is the Mayfield’s have been spotted back in Calico and the townsfolk are in need of some help in capturing the bandits and keeping the town safe. Guests are brought into the story with specific tasks and activities and an essential role as an honorary citizen of Calico.

We were so immersed in the story that we didn’t even venture out of Ghost Town. Every hour on the hour there was something going on. An announcement, a town hall meeting, a hoedown, and more! And in between, we were delivering packages for the outpost, passing notes between the school house and town hall, and looking our best by visiting the barbershop for a fresh mustache.

We had so much fun that we didn’t even think about riding any rides. Of course you could definitely fit them into your visit, but my kids were having a blast keeping up with the Ghost Town adventure.

There are so many things going on around you during Ghost Town Alive! that you’re not going to want to leave until they kick you out of the park. Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town Alive! is hands-down the most fun and imaginative event we’ve been to yet!

You can enjoy Ghost Town Alive! and more with a super-affordable Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass! There is still plenty of time left to enjoy all the fun at Knott’s before the year is over. Click here for more info!

  • We aimed to have a fun family hike this morning and it turned into a fun exploration adventure. A little over halfway down the trail we realized that we were right by the monastery, so we ditched our plans and hiked their shrine trail instead. It's a gorgeous trail with different religions represented along the way.
Four miles and I don't even know how many uphill climbs later, we were finally back to the car. The kids will hopefully sleep well tonight! The adults too!
  • Fashion tip from Evelyn: You can never have too much pink or too many stripes.
  • Free hot chocolate for kids might just be the best rainy day perk ever! Thank you, In-N-Out!

  • When it comes to getting kids to eat veggies, my best advice is to show them the whole process, from growing, to harvesting, to prepping, to cooking! Let them be as involved as possible and they will be excited to try new things! At Evelyn's field trip yesterday, she got to pick radishes, turnips, green onions and cilantro. She got it in her head that she wanted to make vegetable soup, and I said, "let's do it!" She picked out some broccoli from the store, and added some carrots, celery, and cauliflower from the fridge to the veggies she picked at the farm. (Minus the radishes!) She helped wash, cut, and cook everything. She even tasted (and enjoyed) all the veggies raw while we were chopping them. The result of all of her hard work was a delicious pot of soup that we both got to enjoy together today for our lunch.

  • So incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of this sweet and beautiful woman, @kyrzayda_. We connected at a Kia Motors event last summer and I loved her excitement and zest for life. She truly left a mark on everyone who met her. She will be greatly missed. 💔💖
  • It's finally her day!! First day of the big kid class, TK (transitional kindergarten) and her last year at this preschool! She's so excited to be a big kid.
